Lessons at Music Teachers on the Go are divided into three terms during the school year and one summer term as follows:
Fall Term: September – December (15 Lessons)
Winter Term: January – March (10 Lessons)
Spring Term: April – June (11 Lessons)
Summer Term: July – August (8 Lessons)
- There will be no lessons on Labour Day, Thanksgiving Day, Remembrance Day, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year’s Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, or Victoria Day, unless otherwise arranged with the teacher.
- There will be lessons on school professional days, reading breaks, and other days off, unless otherwise arranged with the teacher
The weeks in between each term may be used for make-up lessons.
The summer term is optional and the number of lessons may be arranged individually with the teacher to allow for vacations or other events. Payment must be made to the school in groups of four lessons. Any unused lesson credits will be applied to the fall term payment.
Tuition: Payment must be received before the first lesson of each semester for returning students, and within one week after the trial lesson for new students. Full payment is required to reserve the lesson day and time. Students that register part way through the semester will be charged a prorated amount. Please refer to the tuition page for more information.
Refund Policy: We hope that you are satisfied with your lessons, but if you wish to withdraw you must do so in writing by your third lesson of the semester. The tuition for unused lesson will be refunded. No refunds will be made after your third lesson of the semester. Payment for trial lessons and the registration fee are non-refundable.
Lesson Rescheduling: Lessons may occasionally be rescheduled throughout the year. In an event where a student needs to reschedule a lesson the teacher must be notified at least 24 hours in advance, or as soon as possible in case of an illness. Please note that lessons missed without sufficient notice will not be rescheduled or refunded. Up to two lessons per semester may be rescheduled. Missed lessons beyond this will not be refunded.
Practicing: Like learning any new skill, playing an instrument requires practice. Students are expected to practice their instruments on a daily basis. Remember that doing a little every day is much more effective at making progress than one longer practice right before the lesson.
Performances and Competitions: Students are encouraged to perform in recitals at the end of the winter and spring Terms. Family and friends are invited to attend! Students are welcome to compete in music festivals and take examinations once their teacher feels that they are ready.
Supervision: Parents are invited to sit in on lessons, but this is not required. However, a parent, guardian, or other caregiver must be at home during the lessons for all students under the age of 12. If they are not home, the teacher will not stay for the lesson and the lesson will be charged for, unless otherwise arranged with the teacher.
